Don & Elizabeth Kiel

Don and Elizabeth retired to the San Diego area in 1992 and are now living at a
wonderful retirement community, La Costa Glen in Carlsbad, California.

Genealogy
We are interested in genealogy since we are both of Dutch ancestry. Our grandparents or great-grandparents came to the United States from the Netherlands in the mid 1850's. We now have our ancestry in both families back from 6 to 12 generations.

Art
We enjoy art, and have become especially fond of the artists of the Hague School. Don has created a small website on the Hague School and edited much of the Wikipedia site on the Hague School. He has also saved a large number of copies of the works of Hague School artists at this Rijksmuseum site as well as a Powerpoint lecture he gave at La Costa Glen.

A number of years ago Don did some calligraphy. He has taken some art classes in drawing, charcoals, watercolors and pastels. Recently he has also done some Kirigami.

Hobbies
Don has worked on the
Village Presbyterian Church website and the La Costa Glen website, the Carmel Valley Library website.

Elizabeth continues to sew and has done some beautiful quilts and pine needle baskets and has recently taken some beading classes.
