On a foggy morning on the Mosel River we arrived at our first port at Berkastel.
The main square in Berkastel was filled with beautiful half-timbered buildings.
From the ship we could see the vineyards on the sides of the hills.
Later we walked up to the top of this vineyard and could look down on the ship.
We could also see part of the town of Berkastel from there.
From there we could see even more vineyards.
A closeup of some of the grapes. Although it was late in the season, not all the grapes had been picked. Some would be saved until they were frozen and eiswein would be made from them.
We went to a winetasting in this cellar.
Continue to Trier.
